Recently, the MLB wrapped up their draft. If you were following the draft, you probably heard commentary on "body type," "projected to play at position x," or heard talk about different physical abilities that make the player "suited" for a given position.
In the 4th and final part of my presentation to the analytics class at Northwestern, I discussed what physical stature, mentality and skills teams look for in players at all 9 positions. Perhaps this will give players and parents insight as to whether players should be focused on playing a certain position(s) or focused on improving in order to play at the position he/she desires.
This could also be used as a tool for coaches as they form their lineups.
Hope you enjoy!
